What Is It?

Musical theatre is the triple threat — dance, acting, and singing all in one joyful, high-energy class. Kids build performance confidence, stage presence, expression, and teamwork while learning to tell a story through movement and song. It's a natural fit for the Productions approach, because every class already points toward a real show.

Our musical theatre program grows with dancers from ages roughly 4 through 17, starting with Mini Music for little performers and building into Youth and Jr/Teen Musical Theatre Song and Dance. We also run a Musical Theater intensive in the summer. For the child who lights up when the music starts and loves to be on stage, musical theatre is the place to shine — no experience needed, just bring the enthusiasm.

Levels & Progression

Musical theatre at Productions blends dance, acting, and singing, with a pathway that grows alongside your young performer:

  1. Mini Music A playful first introduction to song and movement for our youngest performers (ages ~4+).
  2. Youth Musical Theatre Song & Dance Building performance skills across dance, acting, and voice.
  3. Jr/Teen Musical Theatre Song & Dance Advancing storytelling, technique, and stage presence.
  4. Summer Musical Theater Intensive A seasonal deep-dive that ties directly into our productions.

What to Wear

  • Hair: Pulled back and out of the face.
  • Attire: Comfortable clothes you can move and dance in — nothing restrictive.
  • Shoes: No street shoes on the studio floor; jazz shoes or clean indoor dance shoes work well. Ask us if a specific number calls for something different.
  • Jewelry: Keep it minimal so it doesn't distract from performing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my child perform? (musical theatre)

+

Yes! Musical theatre ties directly into our productions, and dancers perform in the Winter Holiday Show and Spring Production. We also run a Musical Theater intensive each summer.

What should my dancer wear? (musical theatre)

+

Comfortable clothes they can move in, hair pulled back, and no street shoes on the floor. Jazz shoes or clean indoor dance shoes are a good default.

Does my child need singing or dance experience?

+

No experience needed. Classes are built to introduce all three skills — dance, acting, and singing — at an age-appropriate pace.

What age can my child start musical theatre?

+

We start little performers around age 4 in Mini Music, then continue through Youth and Jr/Teen Musical Theatre Song and Dance classes up to age 17.

What does a musical theatre class include?

+

Musical theatre blends dance, acting, and singing, so dancers learn to tell a story on stage. Our classes build performance confidence and teamwork in a fun, supportive setting.
