What Is It?

Ballet is the foundation of nearly every dance style, and at Productions Dance it's the deepest genre we teach. Rooted in classical technique, ballet builds strength, alignment, flexibility, and the kind of body awareness that makes every other style easier to learn. Dancers develop grace and precision, but they also build focus, discipline, and quiet confidence that carries far beyond the studio.

Ballet is for almost everyone. We start little ones in preschool and primary combos, guide school-age dancers through a structured leveled pathway, and even offer a Babywearing Ballet class for postpartum parents. Whether your child dreams of pointe shoes or simply loves to move, ballet gives them classical training with a warm, performance-driven home. Structured, yet gentle and FUN.

Levels & Progression

Ballet at Productions follows a clear, supportive pathway from first plié to pointe. Every dancer moves at their own pace, and each level builds on the last:

  1. Babywearing Ballet A gentle postpartum class for parent and baby together.
  2. Preschool & Primary Combos Ballet anchors our early combo classes for ages ~3–6.
  3. Ballet Foundations The true beginning class and prerequisite for leveled ballet.
  4. Ballet 2 (Pre-Intermediate) Deepening technique, strength, and terminology.
  5. Ballet 3 (Intermediate) Advanced classical work and artistry.
  6. Pre-Pointe / Pointe track For dancers with the strength and readiness to work en pointe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my child get to perform?

+

Yes! Every class at Productions feeds a larger show. Ballet dancers perform in our Winter Holiday Show and Spring Production, taking them from dancer to performer.

How does my dancer work up to pointe?

+

Pointe work comes after building strength and technique through Ballet Foundations, Ballet 2, and Ballet 3. Dancers enter our Pre-Pointe/Pointe track once they're ready, which the instructor assesses individually.

What shoes and attire are required?

+

Girls wear a leotard with pink or nude ballet slippers, plus tights for ages 7 and up; boys wear black tights or pants with a fitted top and ballet slippers. Hair is pulled back in a bun.

Does my child need experience to join?

+

No experience needed. Ballet Foundations is a true beginner class, and our combos introduce ballet in a gentle, play-based way. We welcome dancers of all levels.

What age can my child start ballet?

+

Ballet threads through our preschool and primary combo classes starting around age 3, and we even offer a Babywearing Ballet class for postpartum parents with their babies. Dedicated leveled ballet begins with Ballet Foundations for school-age dancers.
