What Is It?

Jazz dance is energy, rhythm, and personality set to music. It blends sharp technique with expressive, feel-good movement, so dancers build coordination, strength, and musicality while having a blast. Jazz teaches performance quality early, helping kids find their stage presence and their own style, and it pairs beautifully with the ballet foundation we emphasize at Productions.

Jazz at Productions is for youth and adults alike. Younger dancers thrive in our Pop Jazz Dance classes, while grown-ups can jump into Adult Lyrical Jazz, Adult Jazz Funk and Cabaret, or seasonal Video Pop and Jazz Fusion. It's upbeat, welcoming, and performance-driven, and no experience is needed to start. If you love music and want to move with confidence, jazz is your place in the spotlight.

Levels & Progression

Jazz at Productions grows with the dancer, from youth classes into a range of adult offerings:

  1. Pop Jazz Dance Our upbeat youth jazz class (ages ~8–17), building technique, rhythm, and performance quality.
  2. Adult Lyrical Jazz Expressive, flowing jazz for grown-up dancers.
  3. Adult Jazz Funk & Cabaret High-energy, stylized adult jazz.
  4. Video Pop & Jazz Fusion A seasonal class blending jazz with music-video-inspired choreography.

New dancers are welcome at the entry point for their age, and a ballet foundation helps jazz technique flourish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will jazz dancers perform?

+

Youth jazz classes feed our Winter Holiday Show and Spring Production, so your dancer gets a real stage experience. Seasonal adult offerings vary, so ask us about current performance opportunities.

Are there jazz classes for adults?

+

Yes! We offer Adult Lyrical Jazz, Adult Jazz Funk and Cabaret, and a seasonal Video Pop and Jazz Fusion class. Adult dancers are small in number but truly valued here.

What should I wear to jazz class?

+

Wear a leotard or fitted dance shorts and top that you can move in, with jazz shoes (black if new). Keep hair pulled back and away from the face.

Do I need dance experience to take jazz?

+

No experience needed. Our jazz classes welcome beginners, and dancers build technique and confidence over time in a structured, supportive setting.

What age is jazz for?

+

Our Pop Jazz Dance class is designed for youth roughly ages 8 to 17, and we also offer several jazz styles for adults. Younger children get an introduction to jazz through our combo classes.
