Athletic Power
Jumps, landings, and turns build explosive strength, balance, and real body control. Pro athletes cross-train in ballet for a reason.
Boys Dance Classes
Strength, rhythm, and a stage worth owning. Boys train right alongside everyone else at our studio, in a room that’s welcoming to all. No experience needed.
The Case for Boys
Plenty of boys want to dance. Fewer are given the dedicated space.
This floor is his too. At Productions, boys may take the same technique class as everyone else, but the similarities stop there. Boys require their own corrections. The way their bodies and brains work is unique, and so the training should be unique too.
The curriculum is not watered down for them, it's just tweaked in ways that set them up for success, so they can stand in the same spotlight as every other dancer in the room.
Dance for cross Training
“Fun dance studio with creative classes! This week my son is doing the dance for athletes class summer camp. A chance to hone foot work for movement that works in different settings, so cool! Thankful for the opportunity to introduce him to dance in ways that he can adapt to other interests.”
— Alisa, Productions Dance parent
Built Through Dance
Six things dance can help build in him.
Jumps, landings, and turns build explosive strength, balance, and real body control. Pro athletes cross-train in ballet for a reason.
Footwork and timing show up on the field, the court, even the mat. Spatial awareness comes along for the ride.
Progress is visible. You drill the thing, then you can do the thing. Few activities pay off that plainly.
Counting music, hearing phrasing. Moving on the beat becomes second nature. It’s a skill, and it’s trainable.
Performing in front of a full house is the best nerve-management practice a kid can get, and it never stops being useful.
Dancers rehearse together, cover for each other, and take the bow together. It’s a team sport with better lighting.

Not sure where he fits? Tell us his age and what he’s into, and we’ll point you at the right class.
Will he be the only boy in class?
Class makeup shifts season to season, so we’d rather tell you the truth than a slogan. Call or email us about the specific class you’re eyeing and we’ll tell you who’s in it, and help you find the one where he’ll have company.
Does he need any experience?
None. Beginning classes are built for kids who have never danced a step.
Does he have to perform?
Every class feeds a larger show, and that’s the “Production” in Productions. If the stage makes him nervous, say so when you register. We’ve walked a lot of first-timers to their first bow.
Can dance work around his sport season?
Often, yes. Plenty of our dancers play something else too. Send us his schedule and we’ll find the classes that fit around it.
What should he wear?
Depends on the style. Jazz calls for black jazz pants, jazz shoes, or bare feet. Ballet calls for white or black ballet slippers and a fitted (compression) white shirt so we can see his lines. Hip-hop and tap call for clothes he can move in, no jeans, no street shoes.
Trial a class this week and see what class works for him.
